Geovision NVRs
This documentation instructs users on how to configure their Geovision NVR/DVRs via their Geovision viewer. Users will be instructed in how to configure the devices to send alarm signals to Matrix when motion is detected. See the Add Stream documentation for instructions on how to data enter cameras within Matrix.
Important
This document contains supplemental documentation intended to be used in conjunction with your Geovision users’ manual. This document assumes the user is familiar with the setup and use of their Geovision devices and has a copy of the applicable manual nearby to reference when necessary.
Please Note: Unless otherwise stated, the fields mentioned within this document are required for correct setup on the camera. If any of these fields are not available to you, you may require a software update. Contact the manufacturer for additional information.
Your interface may look different or have different options available than those shown in the below screenshots. Be sure to consult your manual to confirm you are updating the correct settings.
Before proceeding to the following setup instructions, access your Geovision software from your windows machine.
RTSP Configuration
This section instructs users on how to confirm their Geovision devices are configured to communicate RTSP information.
Perform the following steps to configure RTSP settings.
Select the Network option.
Select WebCam Server (W).
- This will disable the webcam server temporarily.
Select the Webcam Server (W) again to enable it and display the Server Setup dialog box.
Select 3GPP from the available tabs.
Deselect the checkbox to disable 3GPP.
Select OK to apply the changes.
If not already installed, install Geovision Mobile Server on your windows machine.
After installed, confirm Mobile Server is running.
- Users can either select Mobile Server from their windows menu or the task bar.
Select the RTSP tab.
Select Enable RTSP Streaming.
Select ID and Password Required.
Input your applicable credentials into the available fields.

Select Apply to complete configuring RTSP settings.
SMTP Configuration
This section instructs users on how to configure the device’s SMTP settings to communicate with Matrix when triggering signals. See the Stream Management documentation for more information on camera SMTP settings.
Perform the following steps to configure SMTP settings to send signals.
- Select the Schedules option.
- Select Schedule Edit.
- Confirm the Pager/E-Mail option is selected within the Setup Schedule settings for all schedules you would like to configure to send SMTP information.
- Select OK to complete saving any changes made to the schedule.
- Select the System Options option.
- Select System Configure.
- Select Camera Configure (F9).
- Confirm Invoke to Send Alerts is selected for all applicable cameras.
- Select OK to save the Camera Configure settings.
- Select the System Options option.
- Select System Configure.
- Select Send Alerts Approach Setup.
- Confirm the Send Event Alerts, Default Alert Approach, and E-Mail options are selected.
- Select the Setting… option located next to the E-Mail option.
- This will display the E-Mail dialog box.
- Input the Server address generated under the stream’s SMTP Settings into the SMTP Server field.
- Input the email address the notification will send from into the E-Mail From field.
- Input the Recipient address generated under the stream’s SMTP Settings into the E-Mail To field.
- Input the Server Port number generated under the stream’s SMTP Settings into the SMTP Port field.
- Select the Attach option.
- The Attach settings can be configured according to your preferences. DICE recommends an attachment count of at least 2 (3-5 is acceptable).
- If applicable, select the SMTP Mail Server requires authentication.
- This will grant access to the Account and Password fields.
- If applicable, define the camera’s Account as required by the camera’s settings.
- If applicable, define the camera’s Password as required by the camera’s settings.
- Select OK to complete configuring the camera’s SMTP settings.
NVR Example
The user has two NVRs: NVR A and NVR B.
NVR A has the following streams assigned: 1, 2, 3, and 4.
When configuring NVR A, input the SMTP settings assigned to stream 1 when following the above steps. After completion, streams 1, 2, 3, and 4 are configured. No additional data entry needs to be done.
NVR B has the following streams assigned: 5, 6, 7, and 8.
When configuring NVR B, input the SMTP settings assigned to stream 5 when following the above steps. After completion, streams 5, 6, 7, and 8 are configured. No additional data entry needs to be done.
Motion Detection Setup
The Motion Detection functionality of your Geovision Cameras has to be configured to prompt the email to send when motion is identified in a particular area.
Perform the following steps to configure motion detection on the camera.
- Select the System Options option.
- Select Video Analysis.
- Select Advanced Motion Detection Setting.
- Select all cameras you would like to configure from the Advanced Motion Detection Setting dialog box.
- Select Configure… from the available options to display the Advanced Motion Detection Setup dialog box.
- Select Enable to activate motion detection on the cameras.
- Select the camera you would like to configure from the dropdown.
- Outline the areas within the view you would like motion to trigger a notification.
- Update all cameras as necessary by selecting them from the dropdown and configuring the motion areas.
- Select OK to save all applied motion configurations.
