Authorities Sub-tab
The Authorities sub-tab allows users to manage contact information for police, medical, fire, and guard personnel that will be contacted during an emergency. Operators contact authorities when handling alarms requiring immediate assistance from the applicable emergency personnel.
Users can interact with the Authorities table via the available toolbar options. These options and their functions are defined below.

Columns | Allows users to update the columns that display in the table. See the Column Management documentation for more information on how to update table columns. |
Rename | Allows users to update the column names. See the Column Management documentation for more information on how to update table columns. |
Save | Preserves any table changes (e.g. column layout or name changes) as default so the updated table configuration will display the next time the user views the page. |
Call | Automatically dials the selected authority’s primary phone number. This option is only available if a call system has been integrated with your software. |
Permits | Displays any licenses assigned to the selected authority. If applicable, users can update authority permits as necessary. |
Available Permits | Used to view permits currently in use for the selected authority. Available Permits can be modified and deleted as necessary via the available toolbar options. |
Permits Needed | When selected, informs the user of authorities that require permits to be properly configured in the system. |
Reset False Counter | Resets the number of false alarms the authority has had to answer to zero. |
PSAP Dip | Checks the PSAP system for the nearest authorities and automatically populates the table with local authority profiles. |
Add | Allows users to select an additional authority to add to the subscriber’s contacts. More information on adding authorities can be found below. |
Edit | Allows users to update the selected authority’s valid days and times. More information on editing authorities can be found below. |
Delete | Removes the selected authority from the table. |
Reload | Refreshes the table to display up-to-date information. |
Adding Authorities
Selecting the Add option from the toolbar will open the Add Authority dialog box.
Perform the following steps to add a new authority to the subscriber.
- Select what kind of authority will be added from the Type drop down. The type selected here determines which available authorities will display when searching for an Authority Code.
- Fire: Defines the authority as belonging to the subscriber’s local fire department.
- Police: Defines the authority as belonging to the subscriber’s local police department.
- Medic: Defines the authority as belonging to the subscriber’s nearest EMT or other emergency medical service.
- Guard: Defines the authority as belonging to the subscriber’s security service.
- Select the magnifying glass icon next to the Authority Code field to display the Authority Code Lookup table.
- Select the desired authority from the table.
- Once selected, the Authority Name, Phone Number, and Extension (if applicable) fields will automatically populate. These fields are read-only and cannot be updated.
- Select Save to complete adding the authority to the subscriber.
- Repeat steps 1-4 for all additional authorities as necessary.
Editing Authorities
Selecting the Edit option from the toolbar for an existing authority will open the Edit Valid Days/Times dialog box. These are the days and times users can contact the authority. By default, all authorities follow the valid days and times configured on the Authority Level.
Users can interact with the Edit Valid Days/Times table via the available toolbar options. These options and their functions are defined below.

Delete | Removes the selected day and time from the table. |

Adding Valid Days and Times
Selecting the Add option from the toolbar will open the Add Authority Valid Days/Times dialog box.
Perform the following steps to add new valid days and times to the authority.
- Select the applicable day(s) of the week the authority should be valid from the Day drop-down.
- SUN-SAT: Individual days of the week.
- ALL: All seven days of the week.
- DAY: Business days (Monday-Friday) of the week only.
- END: Weekending days (Saturday & Sunday) of the week only.
- Selecting an option from the drop-down representing multiple days will populate the table with each day during the selected time frame.
- Input the time the authority will begin to be valid during the selected day(s) into the From field.
- Input the time the authority will stop being valid during the selected day(s) into the To field.
- Select Save to complete assigning days and times to the authority.
- Repeat steps 1-4 for all additional days and times as necessary.
