Storm Mode Entry
Storm Mode Entry is where users can set the system to react to stormed signals during a set time frame in the future. Storm Mode Entry is used to set protocols for events known to occur soon (Hurricanes for example). The following documentation instructs users on how to set up their system to quickly convert to storm mode when and where the event is predicted to occur.
Users can interact with the Storm Mode Entry table via the available options. These options are defined below.

Add | Allows users to create a new storm mode protocol. More information on adding storm mode entries can be found below. |
Edit | Allows users to update existing entries. More information on editing entries can be found below. |
Delete | Removes the selected entry from the table. |
Reload | Refreshes the table to display up-to-date information. |
Add
Selecting Add from the toolbar will open the Storm Setup dialog box.
Perform the following steps to create a new storm mode entry.
- Select how signals should be handled when storm mode is activated from the Storm Action dropdown.
- STM handle with manual return: All signals meeting the defined criteria will be system handled. Operators can manually add stormed signals back to pending if necessary.
- Handle with outbound voice: All signals meeting the defined criteria will be handled by outbound voice.
- Reprioritize: All signals meeting the defined criteria will be assigned to the New Storm Priority level defined below.
- Designate track group: All signals meeting the defined criteria will be handled by operators assigned to the Storm Track Group defined below.
- Input the dealer whose accounts should be stormed into the Dealer field.
- Users can also select the magnifying glass icon to search for and select a dealer.
- If applicable, select a template option from the Storm Template dropdown.
- Selecting a template will automatically assign that template’s criteria to the entry.
- Input a brief explanation of the entry into the Storm Description field.
- If the Designate Track Group action is selected, input the track group ID signals should be directed to into the Storm Track Group field.
- Input the date and time storm mode should begin storming signals for the dealer’s accounts into the From Date and Enter time in your time zone fields.
- Please Note: The time should be in 24-hour format and when you would like the system to begin storming signals during your central station’s time zone not the dealer’s.
- Input the date and time this entry should stop storming signals for the dealer’s accounts into the To Date and Enter time in your time zone fields.
- Input the signal priority level the system will begin storming into the Begin Priority field.
- Input the signal priority level the system will stop storming into the End Priority field.
- If the Reprioritize action is selected, input the priority level that should be assigned to stormed signals within the Begin and End Priority range into the New Storm Priority field.
- If applicable, select the Storm UL Accounts option to include UL rated subscriber accounts when storming signals.
- Select the account property type from the Commercial/Residential dropdown.
- X: Other, only customer signals not falling into either the commercial or residential category will be stormed.
- C: Commercial, only Commercial customer signals will be stormed.
- R: Residential, only residential customer signals will be stormed.
- Blank: All property type customer signals will be stormed.
- Select Save to complete creating the entry.
Repeat the above steps as necessary to add storm mode time frames to dealer accounts. Once an entry is saved, users can Edit entries to add detail parameter to the entry. More information about editing entries can be found below.
Edit
Selecting Edit from the toolbar will display the Storm Setup dialog box for the selected entry. Users can update the entry’s assigned parameters as configured above if necessary. This section instructs users on how to assign detail restrictions to entries.
Users can apply restrictions to the entry to limit the accounts the storm mode will activate for. Users can interact with the details table via the available toolbar options. These options are defined below.

Add
Selecting Add from the toolbar will display the Add Detail dialog box.
Perform the following steps to add detail parameters to the entry.
- Select the parameter type you would like to add to the entry from the Type dropdown.
- Cities: Allows users to define specific cities. Signals originating from the selected city will be stormed accordingly.
- States: Allows users to define specific states. Signals originating from the selected state will be stormed accordingly.
- Types: Allows users to define specific alarm types. Signals received of the selected type will be stormed accordingly.
- Zipcodes: Allows users to define specific zip codes. Signals originating from the selected zip code will be stormed accordingly.
- Input the desired parameter of the selected type into the Data field.
- Users can also select the magnifying glass icon to search for and select a parameter.
- Select Save to complete adding the detail to the entry.
- Repeat the above steps for all desired parameters.
