Message Management

SMS Message Management menu options provide users with tools to manage, send, and analyze SMS messages within Matrix.

This documentation instructs users on how to use the following menu options

  • SMS History
  • SMS Blacklist
  • SMS Client Entry.

SMS History

SMS History provides meaningful data on message status, total, and usage. Users can also send SMS messages from this page.

The History page is divided into three tables. Each of these tables is defined briefly below.

Outbound MessagesDisplays all messages sent by the system within the defined time frame. More information on the Outbound Messages table can be found below.
Inbound MessagesDisplays all messages received by the system within the defined time frame. More information on the Inbound Messages table can be found below.
ChartsDisplays helpful data regarding messages sent and received by the system. More information on the charts can be found below.

Users can view data based on date range via the Start Date and End Date fields.

Perform the following steps to update the date range.

  1. Input the date the system will begin collecting data into the Start Date field.
    • The End Date field will automatically populate once a Start Date is selected and corresponding data will display.
  2. If applicable, input the date the system will stop collecting data into the End Date field.
  3. Select Refresh to reload the data displayed within the available tables.

Outbound Messages

The Outbound Messages table displays all messages sent from your system within the selected time frame.

Users can interact with the table via the available toolbar options. These options are defined below.

CSVDownloads a CSV file of the table.
Note: The downloaded file will contain all information resulting from the selected date range.
PDFDownloads a PDF file of the table.
Note: The downloaded file will contain all information resulting from the selected date range.
ColumnsAllows users to update what column information will display in the table. See the Column Management documentation for more information on how to update table columns.
RenameAllows users to update the column names as necessary. See the Column Management documentation for more information on how to update table columns.
SavePreserves any table changes (e.g. column layout or name changes) as default so the updated table configuration will display the next time the user views the page. This option applies to the user’s personal profile only.
Send SMSAllows users to send text messages to individuals. More information on sending messages can be found below.
ReloadRefreshes the table to provide up-to-date information.

Note: depending on user status, some of the above options may be unavailable.

Send SMS

Selecting Send SMS will display the Send SMS dialog box.

The Send SMS option is used to send quick messages to individuals.

Perform the following steps to send a message.

  1. Select the desired number from the From drop-down.
    • This is the number that will send the message.
  2. Input the 10-digit phone number into the to field.
    • This is the number that will receive the message.
  3. Input the message content into the Message field.
    • This field is limited to 400 characters.
  4. If applicable, select the Send With CSV option to attach a CSV file to the message.
  5. Select Send SMS.

The text message will deliver to the recipient. If a recipient responds, the reply will appear in the Inbound Messages table or, if applicable, DICE will send the reply to your SMS Response URL. More information on this can be found below.

Inbound Messages

The Inbound Messages table displays all messages received by your system within the selected time frame.

Users can interact with the table via the available toolbar options. These options are defined below.

Charts

The Charts table provides a set of graphs for users to quickly gauge message delivery status and sending frequency.

The Outbound Messages graph displays the frequency of use for all applicable outbound phone numbers (the numbers used to send messages). Each number is color coded for easy identification.

The Message Success/Failure graph displays the total number of messages sent and if they were successfully delivered to the recipient.

SMS Blacklist

The SMS Blacklist page contains read-only information on restricted phone numbers. If users wish to add a number to their company blacklist, DICE support must be contacted.

The number, date and time it was added to the list, and (if applicable) a reason for its addition, will display in this table.

Users can interact with the Blacklisted Phone Numbers table via the available toolbar options. These options are defined below.

ReloadRefreshes the table to display up-to-date information.
DeleteRemoves the selected number from the table. Once removed, the number is no longer blacklisted and you will receive calls from it again.

SMS Client Entry

Users can manage their company profile and API Keys via the SMS Client Entry page.

Only your Client ID and information will appear in the SMS Clients table. Users can interact with the table via the available toolbar options. These options are defined below.

ReloadRefreshes the table to provide up-to-date information.
Manage Phone NumbersOpens a read-only table of all registered outbound numbers. If additional outbound numbers are required, please contact DICE Support to add numbers.
API KeysAllows users to create API Keys. These keys provide the necessary authentication for employees utilizing the send SMS feature from outside of our GUI. Instructions on managing client API Keys can be found below.
EditAllows users to update their SMS Response URL. More information on managing response URLs can be found below.

API Keys

Selecting API Keys will display the dialog box.

Perform the following steps to view created API Keys and, if applicable, to create a new key.

  1. Select the Client ID from the SMS Clients table.
  2. Select API Keys.
  3. If applicable, select Add to automatically create a new API Key.
  4. If applicable, select Delete to permanently remove the selected key from the system.
