Avigilon Cameras

This documentation instructs users on how to configure their Avigilon NVRs via a browser window by logging in to the device. Users will be instructed on how to configure the device to send alarm signals to Matrix when motion is detected on its connected cameras. See the Add Stream documentation for instructions on how to data enter cameras within Matrix.


Important

This document contains supplemental documentation intended to be used in conjunction with your Avigilon users’ manual. This document assumes the reader is familiar with the setup and use of the device.

Please Note: unless otherwise stated, the fields mentioned within this document are required for correct setup. If any of these fields are not available to you, you may require a software update or must contact the manufacturer for more information.



Before proceeding to the following setup instructions, access the device from your browser.

SMTP Configuration

This section instructs users on how to configure the camera’s SMTP settings to communicate with Matrix when triggering signals. See the Stream Management documentation for more information on camera SMTP settings.

Network Video Recorders (NVR) are configured similarly to single camera streams for SMTP communication. See the General NVR Setup documentation for more information on configuring NVRs.

Perform the following steps to configure SMTP.

  1. Select Setup from the available tab options. image
  2. Select the desired NVR from the list of available devices.
  3. Select Rules.
    • This will display the Rules dialog box for the selected NVR. image
  4. Select Add.
    • This will display the Rule Setup options. image
  5. Select the Video analytics event started option.
  6. Select Next.
  7. Select Send notifications to Central Monitoring Station from the available User Notification Actions options. image
  8. Select no media.
  9. Select Video from the Select Attachment dialog box.
  10. Select Low from the Quality dropdown.
  11. Select All from the Video Analytics Overlay dropdown. image
  12. Select OK.
  13. Select no media source.
  14. Select The camera linked to the event. image
  15. Select OK.
  16. Select Next.
  17. Select Next.
  18. Input any identifying information into the Rule Name and Rule Description fields.
  19. Select Always from the Schedule dropdown.
  20. Select Rule is enabled. image
  21. Select Finish.
  22. Select External Notifications from the Setup options.
    • This will display the External Notifications dialog box. Confirm the Central Station Monitoring tab is selected. image
  23. Select Enable Central Station Monitoring.
  24. Select XML over SMTP from the Central Monitoring System dropdown.
  25. Input the Recipient address generated under the stream’s SMTP Settings into the Recipient Email Address field.
  26. Input the Recipient address generated under the stream’s SMTP Settings into the Sender Name field.
  27. Input the Recipient address generated under the stream’s SMTP Settings into the Sender Email Address field.
  28. Input the Server address generated under the stream’s SMTP Settings into the SMTP Server field.
  29. Input the Server Port number generated the stream’s SMTP Settings into the Port field.
  30. Input 30 into the Timeout (seconds) field.
  31. Select Disabled from the Minimum Heartbeat Interval dropdown.
  32. Select Apply to complete assigning SMTP information.

If desired, users can select the Send Test Message to confirm the SMTP information entered is correct.
