Storm Mode Templates

Storm Mode Templates is where users can create templates for future use when scheduling a storm mode time frame in advance. See the Manual Storm Mode documentation for more information on storming signals manually. Storm Mode Templates are used to quickly create Storm Mode Entries in the system with predefined protocols and settings. The following documentation instructs users on how to create templates in the system.

Users can interact with the Storm Mode Templates table via the available toolbar options. These options are defined below.

ReloadRefreshes the table to display up-to-date information.
AddAllows users to create new templates. More information on adding templates can be found below.
EditAllows users to update existing templates.
DeleteRemoves the selected template from the table.

Add

Selecting Add from the toolbar will display the Add Storm Template dialog box.

Perform the following steps to create a new storm mode template.

  1. Select how signals should be handled when storm mode is activated from the Storm Action dropdown.
    • STM handle with manual return: All signals meeting the defined criteria will be system handled. Operators can manually add stormed signals back to pending if necessary.
    • Handle with outbound voice: All signals meeting the defined criteria will be handled by outbound voice.
    • Reprioritize: All signals meeting the defined criteria will be assigned to the New Storm Priority level defined below.
    • Designate track group: All signals meeting the defined criteria will be handled by operators assigned to the Storm Track Group defined below.
  2. Input a short name for the template into the Template field.
  3. Input a brief explanation of the template into the Storm Description field.
  4. Input the date and time storm mode should begin storming signals into the From Date fields.
    • Please Note: The time should be in 24-hour format and when you would like the system to begin storming signals during your central station’s time zone.
  5. Input the date and time this entry should stop storming signals into the To Date fields.
  6. Input the signal priority level the system will begin storming into the Begin Priority field.
  7. Input the signal priority level the system will stop storming into the End Priority field.
  8. If the Reprioritize action is selected, input the priority level that should be assigned to stormed signals within the Begin and End Priority range into the New Priority field.
  9. If applicable, select the Storm UL Accounts option to include UL rated subscriber accounts when storming signals.
  10. Select the account property type from the Commercial/Residential dropdown.
    • Commercial: Only Commercial customer signals will be stormed.
    • Residential: Only residential customer signals will be stormed.
    • Other: Only customer signals not falling into either the commercial or residential category will be stormed.
  11. Select Save to complete creating the template.
  12. Repeat the above steps as necessary to create additional templates.

Once saved, templates will be available for assignment within Storm Mode Entry. See the Storm Mode Entry documentation for more information about creating storm modes.

Select Details

Selecting Select Details from the toolbar will display the Storm Template Details dialog box for the selected template. Defining details on templates allows users to specify the types of signals that will be stormed when using the template.

Users can select the parameter type they would like to add to the template from the Detail Type dropdown. The available types are defined below.

CityAllows users to define a specific city. Signals originating from the selected city will be stormed accordingly.
StateAllows users to define a specific state. Signals originating from the selected state will be stormed accordingly.
Alarm TypeAllows users to define a specific alarm type. Signals received of the selected type will be stormed accordingly.
ZipcodeAllows users to define a specific zip code. Signals originating from the selected zip code will be stormed accordingly.

Once a Detail Type is selected, users can add details using the available toolbar options. These options are defined below.

DeleteRemoves the selected detail from the template.
ReloadRefreshes the table to display up-to-date information.

Add

Selecting Add from the toolbar will display the Add dialog box for the selected type.

Perform the following steps to add a detail to the template.

  1. Input the desired identifier you would like to restrict the storm mode to into the available field.
    • Users can also select the magnifying glass icon to search for and select a detail type from those available.
  2. Select Save to complete adding the detail type.
  3. Repeat the above steps for multiple details as necessary.
